Wahiawa Botanic Garden, Wahiawa, Hawaii

I love Botanic gardens just for the shear depth of their collections, if not their inherent beauty.

To see so many specimen plants gathered in one area can be a bit overwhelming, though, I wished the signage here was a bit better, as many of the plants I was interested in were unmarked, Still, this was my first exposure to a rainforest environment with hanging vines, loads of epiphtyes, huge ferns and the like,

Despite its small size, the Wahiawa Botanic Garden was a nice stop for the day. After we had wandered around, my son and I spent over an hour producing some watercolor paintings of the scenes and taking a few photographs to bring home with us.

Pineapple Test Garden, Dole Plantation, Wahiawa, Oahi, Hawaii

Who would have thought there were so many different types of pineapples from so many different parts of the world?

We visited the Dole Plantation in Wahiawa, Oahi, Hawaii today. We avoided the more touristy parts of the plantation, but the sizeable test garden was neat.
