“If only you could smell these lovely flowers when I took this picture a few years ago. The smell is almost overpowering and one bloom, floated in a dish of water, can perfume the entire house for days. They are beautiful, prolific flowers with an amazing scent and a great addition to your garden.”

What is your favorite sign of Spring?

Ornamental Pear (Pyrus kawakamii)

These common street trees always put on a show this time of year. Their falling petals can resemble snow flurries as the bloom peaks, which can be quite confusing when the temperatures are in the high seventies. Despite a few flakes of snow that dropped into the San Fernando Valley this winter, these blossoms are far more common.

Eucalyptus Tree In Black and White

While not native to California, eucalyptus trees are prolific. They were planted as windbreaks, rail ties, and building material, but didn’t work out too well.
They do make interesting photography subjects, though. Their gnarled limbs, shaggy leaves, and shaggy leaves provide and an endless number of views.
