I often find myself taking photos of any vintage sign I can find and Little Tokyo has provided this on many occasions.
The combination of the neon sign with the fire escape made it impossible to ignore.

Get These Datura Flowers on Shower Curtains, Pillows, and More From Douglas E. Welch Design and Photography [For Sale]

2 years ago we spent several weekends walking sections of the Los Angeles River with some friends. I saw these flowers in the section that runs along the 5 freeway from the Valley towards downtown. Despite the fact that they are quite ubiquitous in some areas, there is a beauty to be found in their flowers that rivals more specialized and hybridized plants and flowers. I hope you enjoy it.

Walking to an appointment I looked up as I waited at a crosswalk and caught this quintessential Los Angeles scene — blue sky, sharp sun, palm trees and architecture.

@gogojosephw and I stopped by Little Tokyo to pick up some of our favorite groceries the other day in the way home from Cal Poly Pomona.
I turned around and saw this scene and automatically took a picture. There was something about being someplace unique and different while also seeing a plane take folks new and different places that made me stop and think for a moment. This is one of those photos that you have to grab quickly or the moment is gone.

What is your favorite sign of Spring?

These snowflakes (leucojum) are a welcome reminder of Spring. I need to plant more of these, hit they also naturalize well in the garden.
We can’t grow Snowdrops (galanthus) here in Southern California so these similar looking flowers are the next best thing.

My Los Angeles 77 – A Soaring Ceiling, Union Station

There is something special about starting or ending your journey at an exquisitely designed station like this. It makes the entire trip seem grander and more important — even if you are just going from Van Nuys to downtown or changing from the Red Line to the Gold Line or your way somewhere else.
Like many others, I am always struck with the architecture of Union Station and the hustle and bustle to be found there.

Waiting…

The family is waiting on a train just like they might have in the ’40s. Union Station is such a throwback but I love that it is the connection point for commuter and national rail and also 2 major subway lines here in Los Angeles. What a great way to keep a grand piece of architecture vibrant and productive.
