Elsewhere Online: Are Background Checks Necessary For IT Workers?
An article over at VarBusiness has started this very good discussion over on Slashdot.
Where do you stand? Do you require background checks of all your workers> IT Workers? No one? I once had to be fingerprinted in order to work at a mutual fund company, but I believe that was a requirement for all staff.
There are some interesting comments in the thread about how effective/ineffectice background checks are for weeding out those folks with ethics that might allow them to hurt y our company and your customers.

Are Background Checks Necessary For IT Workers? 4foot10 writes "UBS PaineWebber learned a hard lesson after hiring an IT systems admin without conducting a background check.
