There are some other issues involved with this. If you start to believe that this is true — nothing is ever good enough. You are never satisfied — ever. You can make a $1500 bonus at your job and it’s not enough. You can get that big raise, you can become a manager, you can become a vice president in your company and it’s not enough. Because if this is the level of success nothing, except for Madonna-level status — is enough. Again, what brain-cracking dichotomy is that. It’s going to drive you mad and, in fact, for a lot of people it does drive them mad. We chew ourselves up trying to reach levels of success that are absolutely rare — rare like diamonds, rare like gold, but we beat ourselves up for not achieving them.
