Transcript:

I really want you to take that to heart, because I talk with so many people who are feeling trapped and I often say to them “If you feel trapped, you are trapped.” The feeling itself is a sign that, in your own mind, you have trapped yourself in this situation and you don’t think you have a way out. Guess what? You need to find — you need to do hard thinking again — and find a way out. Yes?

Student: I can’t help but think about relationships, too (missing) What if you depend on what is trapping you?

Welch: Ah, co-dependance? That’s what it is. It really is.

Student: Emotionally and ????

Welch: You need to find a replacement for that. Because there are good relationships and there are bad relationships. There are relationships where you are trapped by your partner where they manipulate you in various ays. They mentally abuse you. Whatever.

Student: Even if there just not reciprocating.

Welch: Right! They trap you in that. If someone is not reciprocating, what’s the best decision you need to make for yourself? You need to decide, if you’ve ome to that realization, banging your head against that wall is not going to work — is not serving yourself any better. You need to make the hard decision for yourself and move on.
