Avoid being comfortable for too long. There’s an old phrase, “Journalism is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable” and sometimes you need to afflict your own comfortable level and engage in something new and exercise that risk muscle, because it can be a situation, which I consider a deadly situation in your life and in your career is not only not like being uncomfortable, you no longer know how ot be uncomfortable. And by that I mean when presented with a turmoil like going into the hospital or problems with your child or problems with your career or whatever, you freak out. You simply no longer how to deal with major situations like that in your life. You become too comfortable.
