I’ve talked a lot about how your career is about yourself. It’s about you. You need to think about yourself. The first pushback I get rom people is “Well, that’s just selfish. You’re just being selfish.” You’re not being selfish. I take the term self preservation. t goes back to the concept I said about you can’t help others unless you are in a position that is stable. You will simply chew yourself up, eat yourself up, burn yourself out, whatever. So when thinking about these things, there are certain times you need to say, “No.” You need — if you want to use the term — you need to be a little selfish. You need to practice self-preservation. You need to understand what your limitations are. What your feelings are. What your desires are and service them.
