Sparks & Bainbridge Mystery Series
I love a good mystery book this series was recommended based on my past reading. It is set in post-WW2 London, and two women protagonists are amazing. One was a Special Ops operative, and the other a society woman who is desperately trying to get back control of her young son, financial life, and her sanity after suffering a breakdown when her young husband was killed in the war.
Both the personal life and crime-related stories are deeply engaging and have kept me avidly reading through the entire series, currently up to 6 books. I will be disappointed when I hit the current end of the series. I have two more to go.
“In the wake of World War II, Miss Iris Sparks and Mrs. Gwendolyn Bainbridge establish The Right Sort Marriage Bureau to help lovelorn Londoners find prospective spouses—and support themselves as independent women. But every client has at least one skeleton in their closet, and Gwen and Iris must draw on an extensive range of contacts established during the war to discretely investigate potential mates and their baggage.” – From MacMillian Publishers
The series currently contains these books:
- The Right Sort of Man
- A Royal Affair
- A Rogue’s Company
- The Unkept Woman
- The Haunting of the Desks
- The Lady from Burma
- Murder at the White Palace
As usual, I have read these books as ebooks available from my library for free. You might have similar services through your library.
