Historical Seed Catalogs: The John A. Doyle Company (1899) – 38 in a series

The image is a black and white illustration from 1899, featuring a detailed drawing of a rose with its leaves and buds. The rose is prominently displayed in the center, with intricate shading and fine lines highlighting the petals and leaves. The illustration is surrounded by text, including "HIGHEST QUALITY LOWEST PRICES" at the top, and "The John A. Doyle Company, SPRINGFIELD, OHIO" in the middle. Below the rose, the text reads "New Hardy Ever-Blooming Rose - Burbank." A stamp in the top right corner indicates it was received by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on August 3, 1923. The overall style is reminiscent of vintage botanical illustrations, with a focus on the botanical details of the rose.

Hardy Variegated Rose,

ROGER LAMBELIN.

One of the most remarkable Roses yet offered. The petals are irregular on the edges like a double Petunia; the color is glowing crimson throughout, except the edges of the petals, which are all distinctly marked with a white band, forming a sharp contrast and the most unique combination of colors known in Roses. The growth is free and vigorous and the fragrance is delightful, equal to the finest hardy Roses. This is a “novelty” of the most striking order.
