#Trust30 Day 22: Enthusiasm

Today’s Prompt:

Enthusiasm by Mars Dorian

Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” is a great line from Emerson. If there’s no enthusiasm in what you do, it won’t be remarkable and certainly won’t connect with people on an emotional basis. But, if you put that magic energy into all of your work, you can create something that touches people on a deeper level. How can you bring MORE enthusiasm into your work? What do you have to think or believe about your work to be totally excited about it? Answer it now.

Without enthusiasm — or passion, which is the word I prefer — you may get by in your life and your work. You may even do OK, but you will never produce something great unless you are truly passionate about it. No matter how you try to convince yourself that this is all you deserve, or this is all you can achieve — there will be an empty place in your life and you will never achieve the life you deserve.

For myself, I believe that everything has an effect in your life and everything you do needs to change things for the better. This might be small things or large, but there must be some net improvement to the world. Sometimes living a good example is the best that you can do. At others, you can help others make large changes to improve their life. It all happens moment to moment, day to day.

Finding more enthusiasm in your work is often about finding the best place for you. Too many people slog away in jobs that fit them poorly or even actively harm the world and people around them. You can’t change the world for the better if you are involved in spam, fraud, or deception as a daily component of your work. Distance yourself from such things or you will pay a great price. It may not seem damaging today or tomorrow, but eventually helping to promote evil, even in its smallest forms will eventually effect you in ways you can’t even imagine.

Dedicate your energy to finding your place in the world and let enthusiasm be your guide, not an end result. You will naturally be passionate about those things that interest and reward you most.
