I took a few moments with my statistics today and pulled out the most popular blog posts and pages at WelchWrite.com. Did you miss any of these?
The Seesmic video IM service was created in France and therefore has a lot of French speakers. I thought it would only be right to try out my high school French skills (with some awesome assistance from Google Translate) to say hello in their native tongue. Enjoy!
I love the fact hat others are catching the "reading" bug and developing their own audio books frmo out of copyright texts. Here is one of my favorite stories read by author, Cory Doctorow.
Free reading of Alice in Wonderland
Happy xmas! I've just posted a 2:23 reading I did of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland -- the first book I ever read to myself, and one of my all time favorites. The reading's under a Creative Commons Attribution-only license, so do anything you'd like with it!

A grand time was had by all as we read A Christmas Carol and sent it out, live, over both Talkshoe.com and uStream.tv. Below is the audio version for your listening pleasure. If you would like to see a partial video if the reading, you can watch it on my uStream.tv page.
Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 6 pm, I will be hosting our 2nd Annual LIVE reading of Dicken's A Christmas Carol LIVE on Talkshoe.com. This is a service that allows LIVE call-in talk shows with audience participation.
My friend Ric, in Santa Clarita is at it again this Christmas season. His holiday light show recently got a mention in Gizmodo, where the blogger calls it "...true artistry. Spectacular."
This is so cool! A robot that with about 4 parts that works amazingly well. Check out the video below to see how you can make your own. Once again, this could be the beginning of a very cool science fair project.
One of the most beautiful bookstores I have ever seen. I would love to spend time here. It might even be worth flying to the Netherlands to see it! (SMILE)
A Book Store Made in Heaven Whoever said that reading was a religious experience was right, especially when taking a visit to Selexyz Dominicanen in Maastricht, Netherlands.
Having just won the Lensvelt de Architect Interior Prize 2007, this newest addition to the Selexyz book chain is well worth the visit to this Medievil city if you are ever in the area.
Erected inside a former 800 year old Dominican church, this bookstore is said to hold the largest stock of books in English in Maastricht, one of the oldest cities in the country.

The Wish Book: Stories inspired by the Christmas Catalogues of the Past.
Our friend, Art Benjamin went to high school with my wife, Rosanne, and several years ago we all re-connected out here in Los Angeles.
My fellow Friends in Tech member, Kreg Steppe, took this shot during the Podcast and New Media Expo last September.
Rosanne's episode of The Wish Book, the Friends in Tech Holiday series is now available.
Wednesday night I spoke at the regular monthly meeting of the Orange County Podcasters on "What's Next and What Needs to be Next in Podcasting."

Instead of my typical holiday guide, this year I present a selection of items that I would love to receive for Christmas. Although I am a big technology hound, I don't often buy it for myself, so many of these items are sure to remain "wishes" for another year. -- Douglas

As if to prove that there is always something new in LA, I came across this photo of the LA River Center, which I had never heard about before. I didn't realize that after Lawry's closed shop, this new venue opened.
Los Angeles River Center and Gardenscasual clicks has added a photo to the pool:
This is the ornate entrance to what used to be a Lawry's spice plant which also offered delicious restaurants and patio terrace dining. The gardens and courtyards are still spectacular and the entire facility is now used by the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens. Open to the public.

A repost of one of my better Christmas pictures from 2005. Someone added it as a favorite on Flickr and reminded me that it was there.

Remember the Christmas catalogs of the past. They were often called Wish Books and I and my sisters would spend hours pouring over them "wishing" for almost everything. Friends in Tech has collected a series of stories and memories about the Wish Book and is presenting them throughout the month of December.

I went out and played around with the camera for a few minutes and came up with this 3 shot panoramic of our (sedate) Christmas lights. There are color light people and white light people and I am white light people. (SMILE)

Back for another great year, Grant's Advent Calendar Video Podcast is greater than ever. Watch breathless as Grant opens each door, little knowing what's inside. Could it be money? Pens? Paper clips? Fidgert? No one knows for sure! Tune in to find out!
After checking my list, I find that there are only 2 things left to make for the party.
Hello, please check out friend, Jay O'Connell's new website, Raven River Press.
