Been getting a few questions about my bedroom seed starting system, so I figured I’d record a quick video! It’s from Gardener’s Supply Company and makes use of capillary action to wick water into a capillary mat, and then upwards into the tray inserts. If you know me, you know I’m not a fan of doing redundant work in the garden, and a self-watering system definitely cuts down on extraneous work. It also encourages root development in a way that more closely mimics how a seed would grow if direct sown, as well as prevents damping off disease, which can decimate your early starts.
