Three Ring Circus is a nonfiction anthology of stories
by dual-career parents about how they manage to "balance"
parenting, their relationship and work, while still maintaining some
semblance of sanity. We are looking for true stories focusing on the
joys and frustrations of parenting while working, as well as tips and
tricks for keeping it all in balance. Stories should be about your experiences
as a dual-parent, working couple and written in a style which is honest
and open - the way you wish you could be with your friends, family and
coworkers.

Two mentions in the press On May 4, 2004, The Arizona Republic, included Three Ring Circus in a round-up of books. On May 12, 2004, The Arkansas Democrat reviewed TRC, and included this closing line, "Parents struggling to keep it all together will find much to like about this book. Of course, they'll first have to find time to read it." Sunday, May 09, 2004
TRC Publication Party, reading and signing Click the picture above to see additonal photos Dawn and I were happy to see so many dear friends come out for our first book signing at one of our favorite bookstores: Portrait of a Bookstore in Tujunga Village on Saturday, May 8, 2004. Dawn's cousin Karen even flew in from Chicago to make the day (and the whole Mothers Day weekend) great. Chris Simmons brought his boys as did contributor Jim Brooks and they all enjoyed the readings - and the veggie and snack platters. We really have to thank Cindy and Steve Parker for providing the bounty for our outdoor feast and everyone who came to listen - and to buy! We sold 26 books - which was one of the highest counts Portrait had for "non-celebrity" author/editors. We also want to thank Dr. Leigh Tobias for coming to lead a discussion of parenting issues for the audience. Once that one person was willing to ask the first question the floodgates were opened. What was really sweet was that some lunch patrons who were finishing up as we were setting up asked what our book was about and, when we described it to them, they promptly bought two! Being an outdoor setting it was conducive to all the little children who had inspired our essays. Watching Joseph or Nicole or Christopher and Cameron sit still enough, long enough for their Mom or Dad to participate was one of the true pleasures of being working parents. |
