Three Ring Circus is a nonfiction anthology of stories
by dual-career parents about how they manage to "balance"
parenting, their relationship and work, while still maintaining some
semblance of sanity. We are looking for true stories focusing on the
joys and frustrations of parenting while working, as well as tips and
tricks for keeping it all in balance. Stories should be about your experiences
as a dual-parent, working couple and written in a style which is honest
and open - the way you wish you could be with your friends, family and
coworkers.

Back cover copy arrives... Today we got the copy for the back cover, including all the associated blurbs. It is so great to see everything come together. "In a society which does not support all-too-often struggling parents, this book shows how much rewarding development--in both parent and child--can result from those adjustments."--T. Berry Brazelton, M.D. Today's parents are supposed to enjoy the "freedom" to have it all—high-powered careers, passionate partnerships, and brilliant, well-mannered children. That's the spin, at least, from those who have never tried to balance the needs of bosses, spouses, and those demanding little people. Finally, a book that replaces spin with the spit-up covered truth, offering up a variety of real situations and honest stories by careered couples in the trenches. Parents will find comfort--and genuine solutions—in this frank collection of first-person accounts that includes married paramedics who work tag-team shifts to care for their four children, confessions of a working mom who finds the challenges of her career infinitely easier than appeasing two kids home sick from daycare, and a dad who shaped his career around his children's lives, and wouldn't have it any other way. "I love this book! Wit, compassion and good advice emerge from couples caught up in a new world of working women, single parents, stay-at-home fathers, and children whose demands seem to grow at an inverse ratio to the time available. Rosanne Welch and Dawn Comer Jefferson have done a magnificent job compiling essays from real people who laugh, cry, bitch, and love in an often exhausting effort to make life work for them."--Al Martinez, Columnist, Los Angeles Times "Three-Ring Circus is a must read for those couples starting a family, those in the throes of raising children, and for grandparents who will get an understanding of what their adult children are trying to do to bring up healthy productive kids while remaining healthy productive people. A winner."--Earl and Barbara Graves, Black Enterprise Magazine |
