Description: LA Opera’s Education and Community Programs, in conjunction with the California African American Museum, present a free recital featuring highlights from Porgy and Bess - the greatest American opera. Gershwin’s utterly unique score blends blues, Tin Pan Alley and opera to chronicle the lives and struggles of an African American community in South Carolina.

This hour-long recital will also feature both beloved and less often musical masterpieces from Scott Joplin, William Grant Still, Francis Hall Johnson and Margaret Bonds, performed by LA Opera Artists.
