Elsewhere Online: Quotes worth recording - Frederick Collins

Ah, sometimes it is the simplest items which hold the most truth.

Living here in Los Angeles, I tend to meet many more of former type of people described below. Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!

I think perhaps this is because we "grow" them here. Even if you arrive from the hinterlands of Ohio, like we did, there is a (not so) subtle pressure to "attract attention to yourself" as George Carlin once said. Living a life where the entire focus is on you can be very lonely. All the attention you garner is usually fleeting and shallow. Caring about others is a sure way to develop friends who care about you.

Quotes worth recording - Frederick Collins The following quote shows (brilliantly) where you should put the focus on...

"There are two types of people in the world. Those who come in the room and say, 'Well, here I am!' and those who come into the room and say 'Ah,there you are!'"
-- Frederick Collins
