Artist Date: Marie et Cie - Valley Village

In many of her books, Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, recommends a weekly Artist Date. This is a one hour minimum trip, alone, to some place that refills the well of your creativity. For some, this can be a local art museum or gallery. Others might prefer a music store. Others might just spend some time in the park.

Marie et Cie, a small coffeehouse, interior design, furniture, music, garden ornament store in Valley Village, California meets my definition of an Artist's Date. Along with a comfy cofeehouse, with great coffee, international chocolates and candies, sodas and more, they have a wonderful collection of books, candles, soaps, furniture music lamps, journals, boxes..you name it.

An hour spent browsing here, is an hour away from the world and into your own imagination. "Oh, I could do something with that! Wouldn't that look good in the den? Have you ever seen such an interesting...?"
