We will have an expanded selection this year – with a focus on species that can survive in our hot and dry climate – there is a plant that can fill your garden’s needs. Many native plants can survive quite well with natural rainfall once they get established. Items for sale include perennial wildflowers, irises, mints, sages, berries, hummingbird and butterfly plants, shrubs, perennials, and trees. A diverse selection of wildflower seeds will be available for purchase. Also for sale are new and used natural history and native gardening books, activity books for children, field guides, and posters. Refreshments and lunch will be available for purchase.

During the sale, experienced CNPSers can assist you in selecting plants that are suitable for your garden! Proceeds from the plant sale help support the activities of the Los Angeles / Santa Monica Mountains Chapter of the California Native Plant Society.

The annual Wildflower Show of the Los Angeles / Santa Monica Mountains chapter of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is scheduled for April 7, 2018 at the Sepulveda Garden Center in conjunction with a simultaneous Native Plant Celebration & Symposium, plant and book sale. The Symposium will feature speakers throughout the day. Plants for sale will be available courtesy of our Symposium partner, the Theodore Payne Foundation. We welcome California native wildflower cuttings from your home gardens.

We’ll showcase almost 300 tomato varieties (yes, you read that right) and offer everything you’ll need to have the most successful tomato season ever.

A new twist this year: we will add some short classes and include expert guest appearances to offer you more garden thoughts and expertise! Don’t miss them.

Featuring FREE Native Plant Gardening Talks:

Saturday – Noon Wild Suburbia – Learning to Garden with Native Plants Barbara Eisenstein Thinking of getting rid of the lawn or simply improving your existing landscape? This talk will present practical approaches to transitioning from traditional resource-intensive yards to more natural, interesting and fun gardens featuring low water-use native plants. Barbara will present information from her new book, Wild Suburbia – Learning to Garden with Native Plants. Ample time will be left for discussion and book signing.

Sunday – Noon Designing a Native Garden in a Limited Space Steve Gerischer Garden design, particularly for a small space can be challenging. Some of the best strategies are counter-intuitive. Thinking ‘small’ can result in a garden that isn’t working at its best. Learn a few ideas for designing in confined spaces using our beautiful native flora.

City Plants is pleased to partner with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) for a Tree Adoption. It will start at 9:00 am till supplies last. 

If you are a resident of the City of Los Angeles, you are eligible to adopt a tree and plant it on private property! You must bring proof of residence (photo ID with an LA City address or a DWP bill) to the adoption event.

Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

imit one tree per person, per property address. For apartment buildings, limit is five trees per complex and one tree per unit.

Trees must be planted in the ground.
