We were delighted that contributors Laura Porter and Yuliana Min Kim-Grant could join us - it really made for a great evening. This weekend - 7/31 and 8/1 - we have book signings for Three Ring Circus: How Real Couples Balance Marriage, Work and Family in Phoenix, Arizona. Comer, who wrote the foreword for TRC is a noted child psychiatrist, educator and founder of the Yale University School Development Program (also called The Comer Process). We're so excited! An anthology like Three Ring Circus is typically hard to market to reviewers since all the essays come from differing points of view and differing levels of writing skill. But "different" books require different measures so on a tip from my husband, Doug, I started emailing websites that discussed child care issues to see if those folks would like review copies. We hit paydirt on childcare.about.com when Robin McClure enjoyed the book. She has posted a really positive review of Three Ring Circus on the website so I hope you all get a chance to read it and pass it on. Despite the fact that it was the beginning of Memorial Day Weekend we gathered an audience around us and sold some books, which is what it's all about! Dawn and I were especially pleased to be joined by contributor Misty Gersley who just moved to Temecula, California. I guess that tells you how long the production of a book takes. When Misty first submitted to us she lived in Virginia Beach. We look forward to more dates with her and other contributors as the summer progresses. Joni is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Saginaw Valley State University where she serves as department chairperson. She has co-authored articles for the Journal of Marriage and the Family and the Family Dynamics of Addiction Quarterly. Rick is a Chemical Process Engineer for Michigan Sugar.
