Transcript:

You should never wish that someone would fire you. If you  really wish — find yourself wishing that someone would fire you — QUIT THE DARN JOB! Ok? It is screaming at you — your life is screaming at you to make a decision very, very, clearly. Do it. You owe it to yourself. You owe it to your family. You owe it to everyone around you to make that decision. Don’t stay stuck in a bad job. Find a new one. There’s a little book that I always refer to — it’s a little book of kind of pithy career statements with little graphics. It’s from several years ago and it’s by — it’s called Radical Careering and its by a woman named Sally Hogshead, I believe. I got this book as a review copy. I really didin’t know anything about it. I started flipping through it and I came across one that just stopped me in my tracks. The tip said, “Being in a crappy job is not your fault. Staying in a crappy job is your fault.” That’s one of those things that just locked in, burnt the groove in my brain and I remembered that from that day forward and bring it out all the time whether I’m talking to individuals or I’m talking to groups. Don’t stick yourself. Don’t trap yourself in a crappy job. It’s serves no one, especially you the least.
