Tucked away like a hidden room in the garden, this cozy nook features a pergola-covered built-in bench, glowing market lights, and cascading hanging planters. Elevated decking adds dimension and structure, while a birdbath invites birds to visit – bringing movement, charm, and a sense of calm to evenings spent outdoors.

Majestic Modern Oasis, The 36th Annual Southern California Spring Garden Show, Costa Mesa, California

An indoor space is designed to resemble an outdoor garden and patio area. In the foreground, a landscaped bed contains dark mulch, green grasses, and purple spiky plants next to light grey stone tiles. A dark metal pergola structure covers a seating section that includes chairs, small tables, and a large metallic cylindrical object. Red decorative elements hang from the frame of the pergola, which also has a beige fabric canopy.

 

MAJESTIC MODERN OASIS

A raised platform beneath a warm natural-fiber shade structure centers on a smooth stucco fountain spilling into an illuminated runnel, creating the garden’s calming rhythm. Below, a lounge with a see-through fireplace offers rare transparency, complemented by contemporary West Elm furnishings and soft, filtered light. Precise detailing, subtle elevation changes, sculptural blue-plastered forms, and potted plantings add texture and balance. The result is a clean, modern sanctuary where water, fire, and light shape an inviting, artful experience.

Designed with families in mind, this inviting outdoor space blends creativity, comfort and natural beauty.

A sculptural mix of wood and stone seating creates a relaxed spot for parents while children explore a charming sandbox and a large outdoor chalkboard made for imaginative play. A shaded pergola shelters a cozy built-in banquette, perfect for storytelling or watching the kids play. Beautiful potted trees soften the space and add a sense of garden elegance, creating a welcome retreat for both children and adults to enjoy the outdoors together.
