You may have seen my past posts and videos about using wine bottles for garden borders. Here is another take on borders using terra cotta drainage tiles, set on end, to frame a garden border. One of the advantages, of course, is you can plant inside each tile as well as in the bed itself. This could make for some nice living borders spilling out over the border and into your paths.

Since these tiles are made from terra cotta, it probably isn’t a good idea for those areas where the ground freezes in the Winter. I think the freezing and thawing would quickly crack these tiles, even in as little as one Winter season, so be aware of that. Perhaps you can substitute with a similar looking, but differently composed piping to create the same thing.
