Make the Best Decision For You from

Douglas E. Welch (http://douglasewelch.com) presents to the class Career Development – Theories and Techniques at Pepperdine Graduate School of Education & Psychology taught by fellow CareerCamp Co-Chair, Danielle Gruen

Transcript:

We talked about selfishness. We talked about altruism a little bit. There are times when you need to make the decisions that are best for you and no one else. When you are faced with a decision — as I mentioned a little bit earlier — between you and your company, make the decision that is best for you. It can be hard sometimes. Because if you like your job, if you like your company, you may be thinking “Well, geez, yeah, this is 8good for me , but it’s not really good for the company and I like the people I work with and…” When it comes down to it, you owe it to yourself and to your co-workers and to the company you work for, to make the decision that is best for you. That is obviously where your career is headed. Where your strength, where you wants, needs and desires, are. You need to follow those. If you don’t, there’ll always be that thought in back of your mines, “What if I had done this? What if I had at least investigated this a little more? What if I had just gone to talk to the people? I’m not committing to anything, but what if I just went and explored the opportunity?”
