Tatsuya Tanaka Captures Everyday Life In A Calendar Of Miniature Objects And Tiny Figurines via Design Boom

The image features a miniature scene with a pair of oversized black sunglasses as the central element. Inside the lenses, there are three pieces of meat: a steak, a sausage, and a grilled piece of meat. To the left of the sunglasses, a small figurine of a man wearing a white shirt, brown overalls, and a hat is holding a pair of tongs, seemingly grilling the meat. To the right of the sunglasses, a small dog figurine with a white and brown coat is standing and looking towards the man. The background is a plain, light-colored surface, and the overall composition is playful and whimsical. The text at the bottom reads MINIATURE LIFE by Tatsuya Tanaka - August 13th, 2023 -.</p>

Tatsuya Tanaka is no stranger to miniature artmaking. He has long photographed and crafted miniature calendars of everyday scenes and created minuscule scenes using face masks and household items. His ongoing exhibitions named ‘MINIATURE LIFE’ at Ono Castle Hometown Museum, Fukuoka and Okinawa Prefectural Museum – both of which run until September 3rd, 2023 – testify to his decade-long commitment to finding and unfolding more creative ways to depict everyday life using miniature objects, tiny figurines, and yearly calendars visitors can own.
