The Dog Days of Podcasting Challenge this month has got me stretching my podcasting muscles a bit, so it finally seemed time to create a Minecraft Let’s Play, after playing the game for over a year and recently resetting our server world to start afresh.
We have a few close friends on our multiplayer server and I always enjoy that more than playing by myself. It creates surprises and new adventures as other “citizens” discover new biomes, spawners, temples and villages. We can also join together for big quests like beating the Ender Dragon and the Whither.
So, welcome to WelchWorld and my 2nd episode of MineFull!

Summer Movie Night 04: A Midsummer Nights Dream (1999)
It’s Summer Vacation and time to catch up on some of the shows and movies we have been meaning to see. Life during the school year can be quite busy with both a college professor and a high school student in the house, so it is nice to settle in for an hour or more over dinner and enjoy a movie all together as a family.
The high school year has only just started, but the Fall play has been chosen…A Midsummer Nights Dream. We have seen this play with our son before, most recently by the Independent Shakespeare Company in 2012, but we figured a quick refresher on the characters and story were in order before auditions this week.
This version, which an all-star cast is quite enjoyable. Set in Italy, in the late 1800’s, it allows for gorgeous scenery for both the real world and the fairy world. The acting is excellent, especially Kevin Kline as bottom. Of course, you will see many other actors you know, including a young Christian Bale (long before his turn as Batman), Calista Flockheart from Ally McBeal, Rupert Evert, Michelle Pfeiffer and more.
Overall, this is an enjoyable way to spend an evening with a old, old friend.

I was searching on my site today and came across the original blog post for this video, which had broken due to changes made at Blip.TV. I wanted to share them again here, to keep them alive on the site and also share them with folks who perhaps weren’t reading My Word “back in the day!” (LAUGH)
Free Little Library in North Sherman Oaks Update
We stopped by our neighborhood Free Little Library today just to check out the current stock, although Rosanne did find a new book by Nora Ephron that she had been meaning to read. Here is a picture of the current state of the library. Quite a good selection available and there is even a second row hidden back there, too.
For a video and photos from Opening Day of the Free Little Library, see the blog post, “Little Free Library Opens in North Sherman Oaks” and this video post.
There is also now a little guardian protecting the library. I think he should be reading a book, though. (LAUGH)
