Clean up
Much of your clean up might have taken place in the spring. However, if winter rolls straight into summer in your part of the country, or you haven’t had the time or motivation to tackle the task, get busy pulling weeds, mowing the lawn and cleaning the patio furniture. Avoid harsh chemicals and instead borrow a pressure washer to blast the deck, fencing, porch and paver stones. Also, tidy up any concrete blocks along your raised beds.

He’s been posting pics of his succulent collection all summer and has just tucked his plants up in the greenhouse for winter. But did you know that not all of them have to be taken inside? It depends where you live and how sheltered your garden is. Also many of them are more tolerant of cold than you might expect. Some are frost resistant despite their origins (remember it gets pretty cold in the desert at night), while other succulents are alpine plants.
