Garden Water Feature, Getty Center, Los Angeles, California [Photography]

Posted on February 26, 2026 by Douglas E. Welch

An eye-level, vertical photograph captures a tranquil water feature within the Getty Center gardens. In the foreground, a small artificial stream flows over a series of jagged, light-colored rocks into a shallow pool. Behind the water, large, flat-faced ochre-colored boulders are stacked, partially shaded by the silhouettes of nearby trees.

Lush garden beds surround the rocks, featuring a variety of textures including low-growing green groundcover and a prominent cluster of vibrant pink bell-shaped flowers. In the background, the modern, off-white travertine and glass architecture of the Getty Center rises, with an outdoor staircase and a lone figure walking along an upper balcony.
