Anemone coronaria “Blue Poppy”, Getty Center, Los Angeles, California [Photography]

Posted on February 16, 2026 by Douglas E. Welch

A vibrant purple anemone flower is the focal point, surrounded by a softly blurred garden backdrop. The bloom features delicate, layered petals with a gradient of deep purple at the outer edges transitioning to lighter lavender near the center. At its core, a dark purple disc encircles numerous fine stamens. The background consists of lush green foliage with various leaf shapes, including some with serrated edges, and earthy soil beneath. A slender green stem supports the flower, rising from the garden bed.
