A week or so ago, before my health issues, I noticed that this small melon had detached itself from its vine, a sure sign that it thought itself ripe. It was so small, I wasn’t sure it would actually be edible, but today my wife carved it open and pronounced it “tasty!” This plant was a volunteer that popped up from my homemade compost. It took me a while to identify what it was, but once the fruit started to form, it became clear.

Just another little gem from the garden to enjoy!
